Murray Darling Basin

Mildura

Sandra Stuart, a Wemba Wemba woman, speaks from Mildura where she has worked for many years in Aboriginal Education.

Sandra grew up in Robinvale beside the Murray River, in the same soldier's settlement where her friend Bonita Ely was born. We meet in Mildura where she lives now. She speaks about family and community, and the need to acknowledge the dark history of Australia for the well-being of all Australians. She guides us to the public art beside the Murray River in Mildura, created by Barkindji man Badger Bates. His art speaks of creatures, peoples and cultures that have endured here for so long.
